Beer Services & Procedures
The process of making beer on premises is simple, because we do most of the work for you. Just follow these simple steps to great beer.
- Phone us to advise which beer you would like us to make for you. At the time of your call we will arrange a time for you to come into the store, put the yeast into the wort (unfermented beer base) and pay for the beer. (These are both Alcohol and Gaming Commission requirements)
- The Brew Kettle has 6 copper double jacketed steam kettles and uses malts, hops and grains to make your beer from recipes designed by our own brewmaster. You are sure to find a beer to suit your taste amongst our 150 different recipes. There are 2 common sizes of beer batches - 50 litres, which is equivalent to 6 beer store 24's (341ml bottles), and 35 litres, which is equivalent to 4 beer store 24's.
- At the agreed upon date and time come into the store, add the yeast to the wort, and pay for the beer. From that time on it is your beer and we will take good care of it for you. We will ensure your beer ferments to the correct levels in our temperature controlled fermentation room, put it into our walk-in cold room for settling, and then filter and then add carbonation to your specified levels.
- Two weeks later, at a mutually agreed day and time, you come into the Brew Kettle and spend a pleasant hour bottling your beer. Bring a friend to help you and spend the time catching up on the latest, or just bop along to background music.
- Should you require bottles we always have on hand a supply of plastic bottles in both 500 ml and 1 litre sizes which can be purchased at time of bottling.
- The Brew Kettle now rents out kegs and dispensing equipment for that summer Bar-B-Q or winter party. Just let us know at the time you purchase your beer and two weeks later we'll have a keg waiting for you to take home for the weekend.
